Journal of Computational and Applied Research in Mechanical Engineering (JCARME)
JCARME recognizes the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in mechanical engineering research and publishing. This policy outlines how AI may be used responsibly to support scholarly work while preserving scientific integrity, originality, and human accountability.
Use of AI by Authors
Authors may use AI tools under their direct supervision for purposes such as language editing, data analysis, modeling, simulation, visualization, and literature exploration. When AI forms part of the research methodology (e.g., machine learning models, AI-assisted simulations), its role must be clearly described, scientifically justified, and validated.
AI tools must not be used to generate fabricated data, falsified results, or non-existent references, nor to produce manuscripts without meaningful human intellectual contribution.
Disclosure and Responsibility
Any use of AI tools must be transparently disclosed in the manuscript. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and ethical compliance of all content, including material assisted by AI. AI systems cannot be listed as authors.
Reproducibility and Scientific Rigor
For AI-based methods, authors are expected to provide sufficient methodological detail to allow evaluation and reproducibility of the results. Where appropriate, comparison with established analytical, numerical, or experimental approaches is encouraged.
Ethical and Legal Considerations
Authors must ensure that AI use complies with copyright, data protection, and ethical standards. Confidential, proprietary, or sensitive engineering data must not be processed using unsecured or unauthorized AI platforms. All AI-generated outputs should be critically reviewed to avoid bias, technical errors, or misleading conclusions.
Peer Review and Editorial Use
Reviewers and editors may use AI tools only for limited supportive tasks, such as language checking or administrative screening. Manuscripts and confidential materials must not be uploaded to public AI platforms. Editorial decisions are made exclusively by human editors.
Policy Compliance
Failure to comply with this policy may result in rejection or retraction of manuscripts in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics. JCARME may revise this policy as AI technologies and ethical standards evolve.
JCARME supports the responsible use of AI as a tool to enhance—not replace—human judgment, scientific reasoning, and engineering insight.
