I love working with students, teaching and doing research. I also like to play sports to the best extent possible. Here are other activities I was a part of. I served as the PI for NSF CRCD project and developed a series of on-line course on particle transport, deposition and removal, developed an efficient computational model for Brownian diffusion of particles in laminar and turbulent flows which is now being used in Ansys-FLUENT commercial code and contributed to the development of practical method for dilute two-phase flow analysis. The approach is being used to improve operation and design of engineering systems in several companies.

Since 1979 Professor Nikbin has worked at Imperial College, London and since 2006 holds a Structural Integrity’ Chair. He has over 380 published papers and acts as consultant for various projects winning several best paper prizes. His Research Interests and academic responsibilities have ranged from scientific research to teaching and tutoring. His aim has been to direct the high temperature Structural Integrity group’s research activities to achieve an overall goal of developing predictive techniques for damage and fracture due to fatigue. Creep and environment corrosion/oxidation using experimental, metallurgical as well as fracture mechanics numerical approaches, using continuum damage mechanics, micro to meso-scale modelling techniques and validating the results with appropriate experiments is the best approach to improve industrial structural integrity. He has been involved withindustrial and research establishments both in China and worldwideworking on multi-disciplinary projects dealing with different aspects of fracture ranging from cryogenic to very high temperatures. His main impetus is to develop further the experimental, metallurgical, micro-modelling and numerical predictive methods to develop a robust virtual testing approach to optimize high experimental costs and apply it to novel Structural Integrity issues.
