Publication Ethics and Research Integrity

The Journal of Computational and Applied Research in Mechanical Engineering (JCARME) is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics, research integrity, transparency, and responsible scholarly communication.

JCARME follows internationally recognized principles of publication ethics and refers to the guidance and flowcharts provided by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) when addressing publication-ethics and research-integrity concerns.

1.Originality and Plagiarism

Manuscripts submitted to JCARME must be original and must not have been published previously, in whole or in substantial part, or be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

The journal uses similarity-detection tools as part of its editorial screening process. Detection of plagiarism, substantial unattributed overlap, duplicate publication, or other forms of inappropriate text reuse may result in rejection or further investigation.

Similarity screening is an editorial integrity procedure and does not replace expert peer review.

2. Research Integrity

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their research has been conducted in accordance with appropriate ethical, professional, and disciplinary standards.

Authors must provide accurate and complete information concerning methods, data, computational procedures, simulations, experiments, and results.

Fabrication, falsification, manipulation of data, inappropriate image manipulation, and other forms of research misconduct are unacceptable.

3. Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the reported research and who have participated sufficiently in the preparation or critical revision of the manuscript.

All listed authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission.

Changes in authorship after submission require the agreement of all affected authors and may require an explanation and supporting documentation.

4. Duplicate and Redundant Publication

Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal.

Substantial duplication of previously published work, redundant publication, or inappropriate fragmentation of research findings may constitute a breach of publication ethics.

5. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, reviewers, editors, and members of the Editorial Board must disclose relationships or circumstances that could reasonably influence, or appear to influence, their judgment.

Editors and reviewers must not participate in the evaluation or decision-making process when they have a relevant conflict of interest.

6. Funding and Financial Disclosure

Authors should disclose all sources of financial support for the research and identify the role, if any, of the funding organization in study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, or the decision to submit the manuscript.

7. Peer Review and Confidentiality

JCARME uses a single-blind peer-review process.

Reviewers must treat submitted manuscripts and all associated information as confidential. Reviewers must not use unpublished information obtained through peer review for personal advantage or disclose manuscript content to others without authorization.

Reviewers must provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based evaluations and must disclose any relevant conflict of interest.

8. Editorial Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for evaluating manuscripts fairly and objectively.

Editorial decisions are based on scientific quality, originality, methodological rigor, significance, relevance, and suitability for the journal.

Editors must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not use unpublished information for personal or professional advantage.

9. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are independent of commercial considerations and are not influenced by the author's nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, race, religion, political views, or personal relationships.

When an editor, Editorial Board member, or other person involved in editorial decision-making submits a manuscript to JCARME, that individual is excluded from decisions concerning the manuscript and the manuscript is handled through an independent editorial process.

10. Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

JCARME is committed to maintaining the accuracy of the published scholarly record.

When a significant error is identified after publication, the journal may publish a correction, erratum, expression of concern, or retraction, depending on the nature and severity of the issue.

Retractions and corrections will be clearly linked to the affected article whenever technically possible.

11. Complaints and Appeals

Authors may appeal an editorial decision when they believe that a significant procedural error, misunderstanding, or relevant information has affected the decision.

Complaints concerning editorial conduct, publication practices, authorship, peer review, research integrity, or other journal-related matters may be submitted to the journal.

Complaints and appeals are handled fairly, confidentially, and as promptly as reasonably possible.

12. Research Misconduct

Where credible concerns regarding research misconduct or publication misconduct are raised, JCARME may request clarification or documentation from the authors and, where appropriate, contact the relevant institution or responsible authority.

The journal may take editorial action while an investigation is underway when necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

13. Artificial Intelligence

Authors may use artificial intelligence tools for appropriate supportive purposes, such as language improvement, data analysis, modeling, simulation, visualization, or literature exploration, provided that the use of such tools is appropriate to the research and is transparently disclosed when it materially contributes to the work.

AI systems must not be listed as authors.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and intellectual content of their manuscripts, including any content produced or modified with the assistance of AI tools.

Authors must not use AI tools to fabricate data, results, references, citations, images, or other scholarly content.

14. Ethical Use of Published Content

Authors, reviewers, editors, and readers are encouraged to report credible concerns regarding plagiarism, fabricated or falsified data, duplicate publication, manipulated images, inappropriate authorship, or other breaches of publication ethics.

JCARME will assess such concerns according to its policies and applicable publication-ethics guidance.

15. Commitment to Research Integrity

JCARME is committed to continuous improvement of its editorial policies and publication practices in order to maintain a trustworthy, transparent, and reliable scholarly record.

User License Agreement

JCARME provides access to archived material through JCARME archives.  All articles published open access will be immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download. Permitted reuse is defined by Creative Commons user license called "Creative Common Attribution" (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)).
